Full Moon in Aries in 2021 for Each Ascendant

two round rocks balancing

October 20th — This full moon in Aries is hemmed between the two outer planets, Uranus and Neptune, both in retrograde. Because the signs they occupy represent the beginning of the zodiac, and therefore related closely to our personal daily lives, we will feel an immense desire to care for ourselves in sharp contrast to relating with, connecting to or comforting other people (Libra).

Neptune in Pisces, on the other hand, isn’t a sign of beginning, nor is it the sign of self, but it is the final sign of release, undoing of karmic bonds and the liberation from the material side of life. It occurs right before reemerging or reincarnating into the energized, inspired sign of Aries (one’s self).

The first sign of Aries is often associated with the spring season and has little to do with our connection to larger social structures. Although these will be a key theme during the full moon, due to the influence of the larger outer-body planets. Societal themes are more so represented by the latter-signs of the zodiac (eg: Capricorn or Aquarius). These signs are around the fall and the winter, a time when we must collaborate, restrain and restrict ourselves in order to survive the harsh elements.

Aries has far more to do with who we define ourselves to be and what we want to initiate or create in the world.

The Moon is the individual consciousness and how we feel in a day to day sense.

Our emotional awareness of who we are and what we desire as an individualized personality is put into the context of two great universal forces that trap or contain us. These make us feel as if our lives are beyond our individual control. Something else is acting upon us and we are just along “for the ride.”

Neptune and Uranus are very much the “higher forces.” Our emotions (Moon) get put into a dimension of rediscovering our unique selves; yet it is within the context of rediscovering spiritual meaning/connection and embracing original ways of finding material security.

Uranus in Taurus in the 2nd Sign from the Full Moon

Our collective security and structure is being reworked and rewired into something greater than what we’ve known before. Many people have quit their jobs to pursue their dream careers in a freelance method (very Uranian), be it by choice or forced circumstance (being let go).

It’s not really traditional ways of earning income that work right now, but more progressive, unorthodox and original techniques that must be employed to withstand the larger cultural and social changes. Embracing originality now will help support our individual path and the expression of who we feel ourselves to be (Aries).

Neptune in the 12th sign from the moon shows us our subconscious states, dreams and the often hard-to-define psychological predilections that make us either feel very lost in regards to who we wish to be as individuals (Aries, once again) or gives us greater inner-guidance to where we wish to apply our inspiration and energy.

The lord of Aries is Mars (in detriment), sitting with the Sun (in debilitation) in Libra. Because our passions and desires are being somewhat “burnt out” via combustion (even with a weaker Sun’s rays), we may feel like stepping out of our power, and moving back into compromising and selling ourselves short for others’ approval (Libra). This puts us further away from who we want to be and breeds resentment or anger (Mars).

Acting on our passion in life does require emotional energy/courage. We may not have enough at the moment. We could shy away from actualizing our personal desires (Aries) because an authority (Sun) has placed too many demands upon us to conform. Despite the combustion of Mars, these planets are creating a lot of heat, fire and intense do-or-die passion in the realm of relationships.

Moon, a soft and soothing planet associated with bodies of water and doting mother figures, is transiting in an action-oriented fire sign.

This is THE time to ACT on desires and start moving towards them. Initiate. Use the energy of this Aries full moon to start something important to you.

But before you do…ask yourself if you’re making too many concessions with others or not being diplomatic enough with them.

Mars and Sun are agitated by Venus (often indicating too much people pleasing, instead of building a life for yourself). The luminaries are red hot on this full moon. It’s still a very passionate time to engage on a romantic level, but it does not lend to any long-term stability at the moment (no aspects from Saturn/fixed signs).

Pluto Square Moon: Intense Emotional Activity

It should also be noted that the dwarf planet Pluto is in a T-square aspecting within 3 degrees of the full moon, gazing from the 10th sign (which indicates karmic activity). We might feel very emotionally powerless (or powerful) in our lives due to external forces “doing things to us” (eg: inflation, public policy, neighbors, friends or family etc.). Or, we could draw into our lives very obsessed underworld-type personalities.

Shadow work is needed. That part of us will awaken during this time. Pluto is the underworld and the shadow. It’s at odds with our emotional self and our kingdom (Sun).

It is important to face the self (deep-rooted emotion/feeling) and sit with it — to stay with one’s self. This is the best way to navigate through Pluto harshly aspecting the Moon.

This is also a powerful time of reclaiming personal identity through transforming our self-concept (which is often strictly defined through what we do/career/Capricorn — though, it doesn’t need to be) and working through the pain (Chiron in Aries). We may have not acknowledged the sounds in our ego or identity (imposter syndrome, not being good enough etc.).

There are some pains that have built up through too much people-pleasing (Libra trait) and too little attention to our own needs or wants (Mars in detriment away from his home does that).

Pluto in square to Mars can turn violent and have someone take EXTREME, often disproportionate action; but it also gives regenerative capabilities, creative potency and a strong willpower to endure the long haul, especially within the space of relationships and partnerships to other, more difficult personalities. This is a time to be brave and face the fact that things aren’t fair or balanced in the world.

Depending on where this transit falls into your chart, it will create a different set of lessons to be learned from. Pluto makes one feel powerless and can destroy the house it is in (only to make it stronger and better than before); Moon will create a psychological awakening and focus on a particular house, and Mars/Sun will make one very active and driven to improve upon the house it transits.

It all comes back to archetypes and how they are applied. The Sun is the king or ruler and Mars is the general or engineer.
