It’s a double new moon in Capricorn. Just in case you didn’t get the lesson the first time, we’re all going to cover it again. Oh boy. The later degrees of Capricorn show us the new lunar energy cycle in a stage of evolution that prepares to transition from motivated, pragmatic earth to the fixed, stubborn air: Aquarius. We are building a final foundation before we find our place in the shared collective and search for a new unorthodox way of engaging in our world. We certainly feel pressure to confirm and bend the knee (Capricorn rules the knees) to authority. This month deals with finding inner-healing. This includes staying silent and shutting off the gateway to the senses so that one may truly “be still.”
“Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s”
Jesus Christ, the Synoptic Gospels.
Key Themes for 30 Days (more or less)
- Complete Transformation of Internal and External Structures
- Facing our internal fears or obsessions (demons signified by Pluto’s underworld)
- Listening to the internal guidance system
- Stay in silent, still and contemplate the true essence
- Simplify, minimize and accept the present moment
- Creating and performing music or mantras out of the silence
New Moon is on one side of the nodal axis. All of the planets are situated on a single side of where the nodal points cut the chart in half, through the mutable energies of the higher-minded Sagittarius and the information-driven lower mind of Gemini. This immediately shows an imbalance within the collective psyche, and the corresponding events that occur within the coming month — these reflect our states of consciousness.
We can all see that fascists, autocrats and authoritarians are placing more and more demands upon their lessers to fall in line or be “punished.” This reflects an issue within your own psyche. Ask yourself: Do you place excessively difficult burdens and demands upon yourself in hopes of feeling worthy or loved by others? Do you punish yourself over guilt for something in the distant past? This month involves intense engagement with such questions.
Moon, Pluto and Sun Conjunct: The Powerhouse
The dwarf planet of transformation, hidden agendas, power, the underworld and obsession is impacting the sensitive Moon and the luminous Sun. This is where darker hidden forces become externalized. Issues of the subconscious that we lock away are surfaced to be integrated. This will happen on the collective sphere (international politics) and the interpersonal sphere (psychology). We might be getting too lost in the structures and forms of this world. We want security to come from the outside. It won’t. It is an internal journey.
Remember that Capricorn new moon is in the 8th sign from the north node in Gemini. It’s the sudden upheaval of our quest or curiosity-driven path for information after we’ve stayed still in the introspective waters of emotion. We connect to something deeper than what the world thinks of us. “Who am I according to society? Do I have status? Did I fulfill the ambitions of my family?” Capricorn must learn to accept and respect themselves and not worry about what a mentally-ill society thinks of them.

This new moon is in the 12th house from Saturn in Aquarius, which shows us a karmic release or renunciation of outdated control mechanisms, both in the collective and in our own lives. Personally, we should ask ourselves where we are clinging onto absolute control or dominance? We do not control other people, only ourselves.
Moon is in detriment, uncomfortable and rigid in Capricorn. People feel that they need to achieve something or work hard in order to meet their emotional needs or be nourished. Sun is also in detriment. We don’t feel confident in where we’re headed. Confidence will come from utilizing Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, in the 2nd house from the new moon (this month’s assets). Building the right connections with others.
In some schools of astrological thought, Capricorn is said to gaze upon Taurus, Leo and Scorpio. The qualities of transformation which impact Capricorn, will also impact our personal financial needs, joint finances and self-esteem — all at once! This is because the rulers of these fixed signs are wrapped up in this new moon phase: Mars, Sun, Venus.
Chiron Square Venus
If that is not love pain, I don’t know what is. It’s in an angle from the new moon. This pain is open and active within us. Our Ego really, really hurts. This opens up old wounds about the traditional views we’ve held regarding relationships and how these ideas simply aren’t working in the new era of the 2020s. Working through this will determine the emotional development over the next month’s new cycle.
Venus is in the same sign of the new moon, but is moving to catch up with the two luminaries. Our desires are moving into greater awareness of how they fit into this month’s themes. Uranus also gazes at Venus from the 5th house of the new moon, showing creative, inventive and shocking ways of engaging in what we love.
Chiron Sextile Mercury, Jupiter & Saturn
Chiron is in the 4th house from the new moon and those three Aquarius planets are in the 2nd house from it. This has a lot to do with the emotional wounds that have lingered about unhealed and unacknowledged, which have worked their way into our very identity/personality. We have the opportunity to be healed through the proper expansion of our thoughts (air element) about how the world is organized.
This next month mirrors the last. It is all about figuring out what we need to survive… then thrive. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the root chakra, the foundation or basis for our existence. we may not feel creative or inspired. Things can feel incredibly hopeless. Focus on the little meanings and the purpose you derive from it in your day-to-day immediate environment (north node Gemini 6th house from new moon). But right now is not the time to be “on fire” about anything. It’s about doing internal psychological work (Capricorn is a feminine sign, about receptivity). Jupiter and Mercury are starved by Saturn. We might not be learning quickly, understand others or have the connections that we want (friendships etc.). We all have to work hard on feeling inspired. The process of overcoming these difficulties will help our character and make us a healthier person. Mercury aids Saturn, the lord of the new moon. We will progressively grow this month into better people.
We are still building upon the foundational structures of our life, which have been completely destroyed by Pluto (thanks a lot for that). Yet, like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, the collective (that includes you) must rebuild and grow through suffering or pressure. We cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel because the pain and pressure of this month’s Saturnian Capricorn transit can be hard to deal with, but it is very possible.
We will be able to see the bigger picture and know the divine grace that is in our suffering, and the suffering of others.
