Neville Goddard’s Astrology: An Incarnation of Neptune

Trevor Scott

Neville Goddard was a spiritual teacher and speaker who influenced the likes of more modern new age gurus like Wayne Dyer and many others.

Neville often talked about how imagination was creating the entire phenomenal world.

Everything in the world, including the events that transpire in our lives, are dictated by imaginal activity.

Judging by how he spoke, my guess was that he was highly Neptunian — dreamy and prone to escapism.

I Wasn’t Wrong! He Has a Neptune – Sun Aspect

Sun in Pisces conjunct Ketu & Saturn (symbol of past life, detachment, other realms, release of the physical) is at a critical degree in an exact trine to Neptune, the planet of dreams and imagination.

He is the reincarnation of someone who was a king (an authority figure of some sort), a spiritual teacher and a knower of the mysteries in the past life. He had reincarnated in order to purify his psyche and mind.

Virgo North Node conjunct the Moon. This combination can, of course, often lead to mental disorders like severe anxiety, paranoia, schizophrenia, and obsessive compulsive disorder…

His chart does show some serious mental problems. The North Node devouring the Moon will overpower the imagination and psychology of the person, to the point where it will cause suffering, night terrors or extreme anxiety or nervousness due to mental instability.

He has ascended from this plane. No doubt, he has not reincarnated. He pierced through the veil of creation, released his attachments and left this realm for good — probably. He attained some level of enlightenment, the understanding that this world is nothing more than an illusion — or as he put it, “Everything is human imagination made manifest.”

The Sun is a tight opposition to the Moon in Virgo shows a stark dichotomy between the identity he presented out in the world and the internal realm emotional security. This can indicate an obsessive quality to the mind as well; there is an emotional desire for order, precision, details and organization. This aspect will often create an obsessive compulsive personality.

Uranus is in Capricorn at 3 degrees, making a trine to the Moon and an opposition aspect to Neptune, the lord of the Sun (soul/self). Uranus is the great awakener who likes to give sudden breaks from the mundane and the stable.

Uranus in Capricorn shows someone who cannot stand to work a highly structured, regimented government job. This person needs freedom to explore and be uniquely creative. Uranus is directly opposed Neptune, the lord of illusions, poisons, and metaphysical experiences.

They both reside in signs involving the external security of the ego (Capricorn) and the inner emotional security of one’s mind (Cancer).

This aspect transcends the individual person; it’s generational. Imagine it like a strong thematic presence coloring the interpersonal aspects riddling the chart.

The Alleged Birth Time is at 9:15PM, Barbados. It’s a Night Chart.

The nightly planets, namely the Moon, have to do with the intuitive and the internal, the imaginative and dreamy. Sound about right?

Dominant Mars in Scorpio

Mars is also a nocturnal planet. He grows in strength when the Sun’s heat dies down, and when he resides in the karmic sign of secrets and sexuality, Scorpio. Mars also holds a TIGHT aspect to Mercury (powerfully placed in Aquarius, an intellectual and philosophical sign).

Neville would lose his cool with people frequently. He could have abruptly and sharply communicate with others on occasion. Mars, being in his home sign of Scorpio, shows an enormous will to face the internal demons or “stuck” negative emotions. He may take action in secret, managing his day to day affairs away from the prying eyes of other people.

Venus in Aries in Detriment

Venus gains strength at night. However, his Venus is in detriment. There are issues with understanding appropriate “value exchanges” in business relationships and issues regarding women. Pluto aspect Venus can indicate a criminal or underworld element to romantic relationships.

Despite Venus being in a counterproductive sign, the planetary lord is Mars. His Mars is very powerful, indicating that he can use his willpower, his logical ability, and energy in such a way as to maintain healthy relationships in spite of difficulties.

Venusian Life Path: Material Experiences and Prophetic Vision

The Venusian influence plays a major role in his life path. His ascendant sign is Libra, which deals with issues of fairness, creativity, and serving others. His life involved dealing with other people and giving his energy to them.

The ascendant lord, Venus, is near the descendant cusp, opposing the first house.

Venus in a very wide conjunction with Jupiter in Aries, creates a lot of beauty, diplomacy and loveliness in a personality and how one acts impulsively on their love of philosophy and spirit.

This can, depending on other things, create a beautiful head/face. It will also make the wife very spiritual and guarantee a child that is female, or feminine. There is a lot of passion for teaching and physically acting on their philosophies.

Neptune and Pluto are retrograde. This indicates an entire generation that has incarnated for a do-over, when it comes to the following:

Accessing the unseen realms and higher consciousness of the emotional body, transcending the boundaries of what we protect and nurture in life, transforming the mental creativity and speech, using the speech and written word to transform. It can also destroy one’s speech and thinking patterns so that they may be recreated.

Neville Goddard’s Astrological Elemental Balance

He has a near perfectly balanced chart through placement of elements alone. He does, however, lack earth energy. It’s not surprising. He said it himself that he did not do well with the practical things of life. Frankly, he would get too frustrated with the tedium too quickly.

His imagination was doing a lot of the heavy lifting in his life. A lack of earth plants can also make a person overcompensate by becoming obsessed with things that are practical and useful and tangible, rejecting all else.

Certainly with Rahu placed in Virgo (the issues that the soul wishes to develop and perfect), there is an intense desire to be of emotional service to the world, and to assist in healing it.

How Does He Think?

Mercury (the way he thinks) is in the iconoclastic and progressive-minded sign of Aquarius, making a wide conjunction to Saturn in Aquarius, its original ruler.

He may have wished to use his management skills, speech, intellect and problem-solving abilities to bring about a solid lasting revolutionary change in people’s lives, to better the world in his own unique way, and go against the grain of established order.

Mercury is squared Mars in fixated signs. The person can be combative in their speech and can short circuit their brain by working too quickly and too hard on mental activities, namely problem solving.

They are both highly karmic signs and indicate a conflict between two distinct areas of life where the person’s mental energies wish to do responsible hard work to elevate and better something with their speech, writing, business-sense and creative intellectual power, and the person’s physical willpower, logic and primal energy that is working towards transforming the emotional body.

Mystic Rectangle Pattern

It is a grand cross, in fact. It’s even more powerful because the energy is being directed into a point of tension.

This point of tension is…naturally, the psyche. It’s in his imagination. Its culmination is centered on the Moon (symbolizing all of these things mentioned previously) and opposes the sun (ego self shining the light of consciousness upon spiritual knowledge and mysteries), sextile Jupiter & Uranus.

This creates a philosophical awakening within the mind, the psyche must be altered by entering a higher awareness. It does involve the activation of immense amounts of creativity and inspiration within the person.

Does the Collective Imagination Create the Chart?

Neville would openly disregard the influence of astrology, claiming that imaginal acts were more potent. He’s sort of right, but not quite. The collective imagination (God, in the pantheistic sense) creates the natal chart when you are born.

Despite his proclamations, Neville, throughout his life, was bound by the karmic patterns outlined in his chart.

With that having been said…

Visualization and manifestation DO tend to work. Visualization and affirmation techniques DO NOT work with absolute precision.

Practicing manifestation techniques will draw forth similar physical experiences that mirror what you’ve imagined, but the exact manner in which it manifests will depend on your karmic blueprint…AKA your natal chart’s karmic pattern.

    • Indeed! It seems Neville is right upon the cusp of the two signs, the bridge from fixed fire into mutable earth. The reason I guessed his moon to be Leo, the very late critical degrees of it, is because of his physical attributes, as well as the manner in which he would give his speeches. It was akin to that of a showman. Lunar Leos tend to have hair with dark roots. When there is an elemental imbalance, I’ve noticed people will overcompensate for that respective element: lack of earth = becoming organized and practical, lack of air = becoming hyper-curious or studious etc. This should also be taken into consideration when examining his chart.

  2. Hi Trevor,
Looking for NG’s astrology chart on the Web led me to your Blog. Your chart reading is very informative, I’m glad you spoke about his reincarnation into this world. I wasn’t buying that his experience in this life just came about out of nowhere; conditions were in place. Would love to see a chart reading on Florence Scovel Shinn’s chart.
