May’s Full Moon of the Underworld: Transforming Our Psyche

Trevor Scott

May 6th-7th is when our emotions run deep…really deep. It’s the full moon that awakens us to the emotional vulnerability lurking within.

Moon transits the middle of Scorpio opposing Uranus, Sun and Mercury. It’s a sudden shock to our emotions. We feel that certain karmas that we overlooked before are rising to the surface to be balanced out. This awakens hidden resources in our emotional nature and calls for balance between satisfying our material security and supporting others in their journey for safety and security.

It’s very good to have Uranus and Mercury conjoined in the sky. It can lend to sudden bursts of inspiration and genius levels of creativity when thinking about how to develop our kingdom (the secure structures in our life) into something fertile, fruitful and pleasurable. This is when we plot the soil and hope we get a return on investment.

This is not the time to start new ventures, but to fan the flame that has already ignited in the previous new moon cycle of Aries.

When the moon is alone in a weakened vulnerable state near the south node and on the side of Rahu, it shows where we can really get lost in a mental story of negativity and fear.

Jyestha is a part of Scorpio that has to do with understanding the lower emotional self. We are more aware of what we are emotionally hiding and stubbornly pushing away. The fixed signs are humanity. We are creatures of habit and get caught up in immovable ways of being.

A Fixed T-Square is on this Full Moon Cycle.

Mercury in Taurus (how we think about finances and how we manage them) opposite Moon in Scorpio (emotional commitments we have to hidden things) and squared Mars in Aquarius (the willpower and energy to expand and teach a new unorthodox way of doing things

This Moon is in the 6th sign from North Node: We feel emotionally unable to connect with the new and varied input that is coming into our experience. This is an information overload that leads us astray from encountering a depth of feeling.

Full Moon Ingress: The Changes We Make After Awakening

May 9th we will see the Moon crossing over the south node in Sagittarius: feelings of loneliness may arise. This is sort of a “letting go” point for our emotional bodies. Our mind starts to reassess the “final victory” of our journey towards security and material abundance. Are we following through on our commitments required to get to our destination? It’s opposite Venus with North node, showing the balance between (love/ obsession of information returning to us again, remembering a truth of some sort) & emotionally releasing our

May 11th we will see the moon come back to Capricorn and conjunct Pluto and Jupiter, where we emotionally assess the crisis of faith and optimism we are feeling. The emotions long for meaning and depth in the responsibilities we are burdening. It’s a minor “dark night of the soul” for our emotional space. It shows us the higher meaning and purpose we gain from our hum-drum material existence will come from grounding projects into reality. Listen closely to the beliefs you hold about money that are outdated.

This prepares us for the last quarter moon, May 14th, one that we will discuss in detail in an upcoming post.
