On April 15th, Venus enters into its home in the earthy sign of Taurus, the first fixed earth sign that pertains to comfort, sensuality, basic human needs and pleasure. It’s a good time to finish manifesting creative projects or do things to make life more enjoyable or creating an aesthetically pleasing environment. Venus feels a grounded desire to feel joy and happiness in the material realm. Savor what you have at this time and put more time into doing something soothing or relaxing. Stop looking at what you do not have and the reasons why you haven’t ‘accomplished’ or moved towards a better position. Start focusing on enjoying and indulging in what little things you have in your immediate environment.
About the Sign of Taurus and Venus
Any sign that is the 12th from the other represents the loss or undoing of the qualities regarding that sign. Taurus, being that it is situated right behind Gemini, is the 12th sign. Taurus shows us the quieting of the nervous system, a slow-down in communication or mental activity and a lack of dispersed mental activity (the scatter-brained qualities seen in the duality of mutable air) in lieu of enjoying comfort and security.
The typical Taurus-type doesn’t want to experiment or explore like the sign of Gemini, but rather fixate on something good and enjoy it, even when it that thing is no longer useful or there is no more juice to be squeeze from the lemon — so to speak. Think of the symbology. Bulls aren’t chirpy or flighty; they often have a mouth-full of grass as they slowly plod along a field, taking it slow n’ easy.
Venus, the planet of comfort, luxury, pleasure and sweetness, the exact opposite of the fiery, sharp-minded, bitter-tasting energy of Mars, is able to function at her highest capacity when in the feminine or receptive odd-numbered signs, those of earth and water. She is exalted in the final water sign, fallen in the middle earth sign. She is displeased in the fixed water sign, where emotion gets strongly attached to pleasure. With Venus transiting through Taurus, we find a greater propensity to enjoy the present moment, as there is not as much mental activity, but earth presence itself.
Venus’ Aspects
Sun Uranus Mercury conjunct Venus:
This massive conjunction to Venus provides exciting new experiences in life that will revolve around sensual pleasure, the lower-realm of earthy Venus. The other planets, like the Sun, illuminates it, whereas Uranus electrifies it (elevates the energies to the transpersonal level of experience) and Mercury, a close friend to Venus, instills it with curiosity and interest. Wherever it happens to land in your natal chart will indicate a substantial amount of new experiences and pleasure coming through: 7th house for relationships, 10th house for career duties, 4th house for your home life and ascendant for your identity or life path. Once these aspect Saturn, which will be for the majority of this conjunction, there will be a calling to integrate a level of maturity and limitation to the Taurean pleasures.
Venus Square Saturn – April 24th
Saturn squares always demand a lot of effort and action from us. Feeling ‘stuck’ in restriction and limitation feels painful and can cause depression unless there are active steps taken to regain one’s creative power or potency. If you begin to feel that you cannot get what you want or move forward on anything, do little things to build up personal autonomy and empowerment: plan to do something and do it, make your bed in the morning or set just about any goal and accomplish it. We can feel trapped by material possessions by holding on too tightly to the structures we’ve grown accustomed to: the same old house, the same job or the same relationship.
Now, both of these planets, a great malefic and benefic, are powerful in their home signs; each one wishes to act in a certain manner and are at-odds with one another’s intentions. Saturn is about the bigger-picture or the long-game for society as a whole — it’s not about the individual personal self. Yet, Taurus is all about our individual pleasure and sustenance. It might feel hard for us to enjoy life at this time with the demands and pressures being laid out from powerful corrupt institutions and organizations in society.
Venus opposite Full Moon – April 27th
Venus, still in her union with Uranus, Sun and Mercury, will oppose the debilitated full moon at maximum strength. This is where we might not “feel” too full, no matter how much indulgence we get. Keep in mind that while this is happening, the moon does rule over Cancer, which is holding Mars. This actually creates a mutual exchange that is quite powerful. There is a deep satisfaction in materializing mundane pleasures and comforts.
Venus Trine Pluto/Moon – May 1st
Venus will give a harmonious aspect to a waning moon and the dwarf-planet of transformation, Pluto. This can provide a deep meaning, fulfillment and psychological sense of security to people who otherwise felt a lack of it before. There is always an opportunity here to experience a grounded and intense passion in an entirely new way.
Venus Square Jupiter – May 2nd
If it seems like too much of a good thing, it probably is. Jupiter gives high hopes and grand progressive ideas, but these are often at a mismatch with immediate happiness, pleasure and gratification. In this case, be careful of mindless or excessive accumulation or indulgence. You can become fixed in constructive and healthy habits, or destructive and unhealthy habits.
Finally, on March 8th, Venus moves out of Taurus and into the same sign of the North Node: Gemini. This will be a time for collective yearning for enjoyment, new ideas and communication. There will be a massive confusion and readjustment of our values concerning what ideas can be communicated and how we express ourselves with one another in an increasingly technologically-possessed society.
