Mars finally enters Aries, after having moved through a “drowning period,” where it transitioned between the element of water and fire, creating steam or “confusion.” The two malefic planets are in their home signs: giving strength and grit to the collective consciousness. Mars being strong in the early degrees of Aries shows us that we have the willpower and raw energy to move past any and all obstacles keeping us from obtaining healing.
There is a TON of cardinal energy right now. All cardinal signs are in angles to one another. They act upon the world. This is the time to take initiative in life. Get surrounded by your “tribe” and the emotional comforts you need to cope with the collective chaos that is brewing. Prepare for what is coming: an economic collapse. The collective structures that we once trusted to provide us a sense of civility, security and a basic framework to live our lives must be destroyed (Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter conjunct). It will then be recreated, of course. Mars at a critical degree is giving us strength to be more independent and self-secured in our personal power.
Oh, one more thing! That’s not to mention the fact that there are also 5 planets retrograde, and one more to come — “big bad Saturn.” Saturn, the great malefic, is retrograde alongside Jupiter, the great benefic. The qualities of consciousness that expand and contract are being reflected upon. The other retrograde planets are reflecting the higher forces within the collective consciousness.
We are trying to move towards what gives us emotional fulfillment and security: Cancer new moon solar cycle. Mars is hemmed in between Neptune (collective delusion) and Chiron (collective ego pain/healing). It’s a crisis point of acting on our emotional impulse.
This is the first quarter crisis of the Cancer new moon cycle.
What emotional work needs to be done right now and what actions have to be taken to ensure that you heal (Chiron) the physical body (energy levels, muscle, blood) so as to have a more functional life experience.
This new moon cycle that began some days ago is all about returning to what we love, reuniting with the things that provide us comfort and emotional fulfillment. It is a Sattvic cycle, as it transits in water element. This theme of recurrence occurs in the first 3 degrees of Cancer. Trying something again that we gave up on in the past will lead to inner-fulfillment. In the context of this larger cycle, Mars is in the 10th house (powerful position to get stuff done) and Saturn is on the 8th (naturally at home in the house of death).
Right now, the beneficial planets (Jupiter, Venus, Moon etc.) are all gaining some strength. This is because we are undergoing a waxing moon cycle. Energy is building and adding up. This is where we are expanding our psychic energies outward, up until the peak energy point, the awakening of the full moon. We MUST take action now and do the hard work that needs to be done. Mars and Saturn gives us grit and determination to stick with something until the end.

Emotionally, this is a time to find the balance in what is working and what isn’t. It’s time to weigh the pros and cons of how exactly you’re going about developing a sense of emotional security and tribe. We must find a balance with doing and non-doing, acting and receiving.
In accordance to the current new moon cycle, Jupiter, Pluto and, very soon, Saturn, are in the opposite sign, They are from the beginning point of this cycle, far from the Sun and Mercury. This means the qualities of these planets are disappearing from our view (in a sense) for the next month. The hope and sense of abundance, broad understanding and unconscious patterns of traditional thought/belief aren’t at the forefront of our awareness, but are being pushed into hiding.
It can be difficult to deal with finances, education, children and charitable causes at the moment. It feels God or abundance are very far away from us. Life feels motivated by Tamas, just getting by, rather than Sattva, uplifting through a sense of grand purpose. Stability and security are also far from us. We are tasked with finding the Mars-like strength and Saturnian, stoic discipline to use our skills and speech in a righteous and pure way. We are focused on making our immediate home environment more tranquil by taking hard action to improve the conditions of our lives in whatever way we can.
Saturn and Mars show us a new karma is forming in the collective emotional body. The early degrees, 0 degree, is a point of newness for the energies of the associative planet. We will get more clear on what our desires actually are and what we are willing to fight for, so as to protect and preserve the good and eliminate the bad. Saturn being strong shows us that we will all be a lot better at resting, recuperating and staying still, curbing the reckless use of energy and time.
We must all work at becoming more grounded and stabilizing our emotional energy. Mars, in his primal atmosphere of Aries, helps with this. If we are living in the realm of conceptions and mental abstractions, perpetuated through constant media input, our emotional and mental stability will go haywire. Thanks to Mars and Saturn, we have the discipline and energy to choose productive and spiritual growth-oriented behavior patterns that don’t run counter to our soul’s (Sun) need to find some roots and home in this world.
