February 4th, 2021 is when the waning Moon transits through the middle degrees of Scorpio. This Final Quarter Moon represents the final stage in psychological development for this month’s cycle before it transitions into the next month’s cycle, which will, once again, be in the sign of Aquarius. It’s now a time to realign and reintegrate the hidden, unseen spiritual element of life. As the collective senses have been highly externalized through intensely fixed (and rather chaotic) thought processes.
The original lord of Scorpio is Mars, situated with Uranus in the 4th place from the Sun in Aquarius. This is about using our logic, energy and universal force of ‘Will’ to understand the emotional roots (financial anxieties) embedded within this month’s larger Aquarian solar theme: collective service, self-sacrifice and individual identity within a larger social network. This is a time for some inner-work on the spirit. During this transit, it’s important to release fixed emotional patterns and not get drawn into conflicts and battles (7th house aspect of Mars on the Moon).
Moon Squared Aspect in a Fixed Sign
- Venus – feeling like we should separate what deeper needs are in relationships and passions
- Saturn – feeling burdened with inevitable duties in the world and how these impact our psyche
- Jupiter – feeling like we must get rid of our false hopes and inaccurate beliefs about how the world should be – focus on what is
- Sun – feeling like we have to align our purpose to be of use/belong to the collective and still have ourselves at the same time
- Mercury (R) – psychologically moving past repeated misperceptions and misinterpretations about our immediate reality
A waning Moon ensures that malefic planets (Mars & Saturn) become stronger. It’s about spirituality, growing one’s inner-being and moving towards the spiritual light or illumination. Whereas, the waxing Moon just gives propensity towards material matters. The mind, manas, is moving away from the light of the soul and into the world. Comparatively, during the month of August, when the Sun is in Leo and the Moon is waxing in Scorpio, one’s desire to live large and live like a king, party in the summer and enjoy life’s pleasures can also lead to feeling stuck (possession/attachment) in a state of indulgence on one’s primal passions. Which is why the waning Moon is in Taurus. It’s trying to eliminate material delusions and attachments in order to move towards a spiritual unification: Sun conjunct Moon.
When those attachments or ‘ruts’ are out of the way, we can better organize, get clear, healthy and be more practical in the Virgo Sun sign. See the pattern? It’s karmic and repeats through the 12 months.
In this case, the Moon is waning in Scorpio, it really doesn’t feel good about the things of this world. You’ll have to go deeper within yourself during these two days and find your authentic, raw truth. In that place there is power. There is a tendency to give our power away to institutions, authority figures and downright hysterical collective mind patterns. Aquarius can often feel like a slave or servant to something larger, or a cog in the machine (Saturn’s rulership: monotonous, droning work). You must muster some strength and avoid these mental entrapments. Aquarius is an air sign. Naturally, this means that the last month (and upcoming month) will be about the fixed ideas you have about your life and whether these thoughts are nourishing (water bearer) your life or draining it.

Neptune trine the Waning Moon: Incorporating Compassion & Eliminating Delusions
This water trine creates increased psychic sensitivity during February 3rd and 4th. It is a time when our fears, fantasies and projections could potentially get the better of us. Or, we can use this energy to better align with positive psychic energies and eliminate the hidden negative attachments or energy chords keeping the body and mind stuck in a particular state of being. Any fixed ideas we have that tell a story of powerlessness or self-sabotage should be ignored and replaced with stories of empowerment and growth. These stories are personal narratives one tells themselves about the state of his or her life.
