Last Quarter Moon in Sagittarius Mar 2021: To Trust or Not to Trust?

Trevor Scott

March 5th, 2021 shows us a final quarter moon phase in the sign of Sagittarius. Its ruler, Jupiter, is all about trust, faith, expansion, expression and story-telling. It’s associated with the 9th house of publishing and foreign lands and the 12th house of loss. The lord of this Moon, the great benefic Jupiter, is conjunct Mercury, his enemy. This particular moon phase can feel as if we’re drifting out to sea, far away from the stability of the solid ground. The seven inner-planets are situated near the end of the Zodiac. Karma is playing out in the transpersonal, more than the interpersonal.

A waxing moon is about release and internal recalibration before the next solar cycle. It’s a time of final decision-making before the next karmic lessons come in the next month. This is double the case when the Moon is conjunct Ketu/South Node. Again, we see an emphasis on “letting go” and not trying to control one’s experience. The past experiences and the beliefs we’ve accumulated from our upbringing and culture are what can obstruct us from experiencing something better in life. Collectively, we all want the North Node in Gemini, to gather new information and experiences. Yet, what holds us back is the stagnation brought forth by the South Node. When it comes to Sagittarius, and its squared aspect to Pisces, there is a choice that must be made on whether or not to trust the facts we are given by the larger social institutions or to ignore these narratives and to engage in direct mystic contact with something that transcends the structures around us. Pisces is a dreaming mystic.

A Final Release of Emotional Idealism

Venus in Pisces can make us love so deeply that it becomes the justification for unscrupulous behavior. The end may justify the means. When Neptune is with Venus, there is a strong creative urge to express the soul’s longings through poetry, art or music. Or, it can make a person so intensely delusional about their values, desires and how to relate to others, that it works against them. We should make a final stand or decision on what to put our trust in and whether or not we’ve internalized lies or unhealthy delusions about our reality. Neptune can also pull us into escapism and complete paranoia — or it can give us Bhakti, a devotional relationship with the divine principle. The more we let go, the more we may be able to access this otherworldly state beyond thought formation and mental conceptualizations or abstractions.

  • Moon Square Venus — How we feel about love, relationships and intimacy is changing drastically: releasing passions and desires.
  • Moon Square Sun — The internal struggle between the expression of individuality and our need to feel secure in our trust in something — in anything — arise.
  • Moon Square Neptune — There is a dichotomy between emotionally releasing the stories we’ve been holding onto and the unclear perceptions or fantasies we have internalized as a part of being (Sun). We may lack emotional boundaries now and seek to merge with something greater.

Mercury Conjunct Jupiter in 3rd Sign from the Moon’s Position

When Mercury and Jupiter conjoin, there is a battle between what we are to believe and what we know is factually true. The collective might become interested in understanding religions, belief systems and foreign cultures. In the sign of Saturn, Mercury wins out in terms of strength. There is far more emphasis on understanding and managing aspects of our lives, rather than believing and putting trust in something.

Mercury & Jupiter are Sextile the Last Quarter Moon

Sextile aspects are symbolized as opportunities; they correspond to the original third sign of the Zodiac (Gemini) which is about exploration and understanding (its lord is Mercury). Mercury and Jupiter are planets that manifest concrete things in life (along with Venus, of course). Jupiter gives us more of whatever it touches. Mercury gives us insight and understanding on how to better enjoy a particular thing. The more we know, the more we can act on that knowledge. From the perspective of the Moon, there is an opportunity to overcome limiting beliefs, idealism and fanaticism through befriending people from other walks of life.
