July 20th gives us the new moon cycle in the last section of Cancer. This represents a new karma in development, be it positive or negative, that has its origins in our emotional sphere.
“Another one already?!”
That’s why it’s important to have another Cancer new moon! The collective madness is growing and people are ANGRY — to say the least. This is when we reflect on that raw emotional state and search for an understanding of its root.
The last section of Cancer is a place where we unravel our attachments and think (Mercurial) deeply on how these attachments are benefiting or harming our larger existence (Sun).
Moon is comfortable in her home sign, powerful, confident and assured, despite being swallowed up by the all-powerful Sun. It’s a time of acting on our intuitions and not on what we “know” mentally. Cancer is all about letting go of the accumulated information (Gemini) and following the heart, not the brain. Stay true to your feelings and turn inward to get a sense of who you are. None of us can think or act with clarity at the moment. Don’t be impulsive. This is a time when life has the potential to transform into something far better than it was before.
We can UNDO what was done during the prior lunar cycles. This is a time for healing and being reclusive, not engaging totally with the chaos of the world. Water signs nourish, heal and support. They do NOT initiate and confront the world. Cancer isn’t a fire sign (inspiration) or air sign (stimulation). They allow what is to be. Water signs maintain and grow the positive attributes already present in life. They contain the negative (feminine/yin) polarity.
Now is the time for healing and recuperation. We can give a selfless love to others or receive it. This entire month is about devoting ourselves to something pure and loving as means to heal.
Be careful about your thoughts and the negativity that you’re letting in. Be in harmony with your environment and get into nature more. It’s hard. I’ll admit it. This Moon is opposed to Jupiter. We will be told to listen to a false or unreliable authority that will lead us to destruction rather than rejuvenation.
New moons are all about setting up new intentions and ideas into the world. This isn’t so much an active and achievement-oriented energetic cycle. Although it is an active sign, the water element is all about supporting and nourishing what is already there, not bringing new elements into the equation. In the constellation of Ashlesha, the domain of this lunar cycle, the upcoming month’s themes are all about our emotional attachments and our strong sentiments becoming activated within our consciousness.
Neptune in the 9th: Finding a new devotion through mystical emotional highs
Our emotional nature is searching for an outlet, something just beyond the realm of what is, tapping into what “could” be. The retrogression of the planet gives it the potential to be more powerful in the human consciousness. It can increase the compassion we feel for our fellow sentient beings, or it can give us intensified confusion and delusion. We can gain a new meaning and sense of devotion in life. Remember that, on top of this mystic aspect, the South Node Ketu is inconjunct to the Moon. We are recalibrating our emotional space in order to push us forward (Cardinal energy) to letting go of old beliefs and our ideals about how the world should be.
Uranus in the 11th: new and inventive ways of finding our emotional comfort, security and foundational needs.
Uranus in Taurus is giving us an opportunity to access the collective creative intelligence and find new ways of understanding how to support our life. This planet is giving the entire month’s energy cycle strength, adding a creative and inventive outlet for how we express our needs.
Venus in the 12th: Losing ourselves through indulgence and escapism
Venus serves as an obstructor to the new moon energy cycle. This is where, rather than face difficult emotional states, we may choose to escape our lives by tapping into entertaining and stimulating new information (Gemini), feeding the ego and pain body and further polluting our consciousness with negative energy. We might get obsessed with feeding our minds with information and trivia (Gemini North Node). If we use these energies properly, we’ll be able to limit our media consumption and restore our psychological equilibrium.
Jupiter Pluto and Saturn conjunct in Capricorn in the 7th house from the New Moon
The old way of living will be destroyed. A new faith or religious fever will arise from the ashes, with the ever-predictable quality of fanatic extremism. It’s a time of transformation and overcoming any emotional hangups around the old “story” and the old belief system we’ve been caught up in.
Saturn opposed to the Moon will bring us intense, deep fears and very real limitations brought into our awareness about our sentiments and emotional attachments. We might be squeezed by life, forced to let go of attachments in order to grow and expand, aiding us in our journey towards new and energetic experiences (north node Gemini).
Pluto opposed to the Moon brings out hidden secrets, emotional transformation and intense changes to our habitual nature. Things we weren’t aware of just “pop-up” out of nowhere to shake us out of our habitual clinging. Let go. Then, you can transform. We are being called to emotionally “grow-up” and mature into someone formidable and powerful. This doesn’t mean power over others. It is the power over our own mind and being.
Mars and Chiron in the 10th House: Acting Defensively
Mars is also an obstructive planet to this month’s energy cycle. Mars in Aries is strong, willing to fight at the drop of a hat for what’s “right.” Getting lost in our anger and letting our frustrations with how things are in contrast with how the world should be will lead us astray from the intentions of this lunar cycle: overcome and transform our emotional attachments (don’t get dragged into conflicts that feed old emotional states).
We are actively working through the pain and anger that has built up around our identity. There is enormous pent up aggression underneath the surface. After all, Americans are oppressed by the billionaire class of Wall Street: refusing to raise wages, lobbying to the government to strip people of their rights and take away social benefits in favor of appeasing corporate shareholders. The people think up of a variety of issues as to why they’re angry or upset. The truth is, the people were robbed a quality of life by the billionaire class through numerous bad policy decisions by previous administrations, beginning first and foremost with the Reagan administration during the 80s and exacerbating the situation further during the 90s under the Clinton Administration.
But I digress…
There are so many emotions that we are guarding from others right now. Everyone is on edge. “Don’t mess with me right now,” is the mentality that most people are carrying with them. We must release deep-rooted psychological attachments to negative states of consciousness now more than ever. This is the time to LET GO. Don’t be hyper-protective of your environment (Cancer loves to be overly protective), your past personal history, your old habits and the numerous mental narratives of who you think you are.
The world is changing and you must develop the capacity to change with it. This requires having the water element come alive and function optimally within your being. Work on the Swadhishthana Chakra.
This new moon means we should meditate and stay silent more. Don’t use harsh speech on others; say nourishing words (Mercury in Pushya). We will also crave connection with something larger, but feel unable to properly access it due to excessive involvement with the sense-oriented external world (too much noise in the head and not enough silent awareness).
We might be overthinking things, with Chiron/Mars squared Mercury, putting our minds on what HURTS (Chiron) instead of what WORKS!
Purify any poisons that you’ve collected in your mental/emotional sphere. Have a detox period from negative media. You might feel weak at first, but you’ll get stronger. Just like a snake changing its skin, we must hide away for a little bit, vulnerable as we are, and shed the negative energies out of our auras.
This new moon cycle affects the cardinal signs the most, as it becomes an angular planetary alignment for the following signs:
Aries:
There are a lot of emotional hangups around where you belong, the drama transpiring in your family unit and how secure you feel in your private space. Letting go of attachment here will be the key challenge. Think about how to improve your comforts and develop more contentment. DO NOT CONSUME ALCOHOL OR POISONS RIGHT NOW!!!
Cancer:
You have to release attachments to your very identity and the beliefs you hold about other people and relationships. Your life path can get tangled up and confused by unprocessed emotional toxins. This will challenge your very identity to transform and come out stronger. Starting learning and discovering more about your roots (Mercury) and figure out what needs to change about YOU before your relationships (7th house Capricorn: Jupiter, Pluto & Saturn) find more abundance, grace and consistency.
Capricorn:
You have to release attachments to the emotional hangups around your relationships, wanting your partner to be your maternal figure and caretaker won’t do right now. Your entire life is transforming and changing right now. You must let go of illusions, especially when it comes to how you’re applying your willpower and your talents in the world. You are restructuring your life right now. But this new moon makes you consider what needs to be sacrificed or nourished in your relationships.
Libra:
Let go of the need to be nourished by gaining the world’s approval. Find your unique creative expression for your passions. Take your mind off of the emotional need to be loved by the masses (you can’t control them) and approve of yourself. You can’t please everyone. Your preoccupation with the collective’s opinion of you, even your social media image and your strong desire to nurture the world in some way must be relinquished. Ironically, only after you do this will it fall into your lap.
