Uranus in Taurus: Revolution in Our Needs

Trevor Scott

Taurus is the original second sign of the zodiac. It is ruled by Venus and has a lot to do with our first experiences in the world of sensuality and sense-perception. It is split up into three constellations, in the Vedic System of thought, Krittika, Rohini and a little portion of Mrigashira, which is mainly in Gemini. The first part of Taurus, having just left Aries, is still rather hot dry earth. Once it moves into the sign a little more, after the 10 degree mark, Taurus becomes more sensitive and receptive, as it is now ruled by the Moon in Rohini. Near the end of Taurus, beginning at about 23 degrees, the sign is ruled by the energies of Mars, giving it more of a push and power for attaining material desires before elevating into a mutable changeable air sign, the realm of thought and connectivity: Gemini. But…That’s a whole different story. Once Uranus moves into Gemini, in 2025, the collective thought, writing or communication style will have truly transformed forever. This is when we sink deeper into the “electric age.” This will be a time of eccentric thinkers and radical actions. But, for now, Uranus in Taurus is something to be taken advantage of.

Taurus is all about our needs and how we meet them. Since Aries rules the head, the brain and its neurons, the second sign rules over the various senses in our face and our necks. Once the baby’s head comes out of the womb, it begins to use its vocal cords to express its need by crying. See how it all fits together? It rules over the throat and mouth. Uranus moving through this sign could indicate that there will be an augmentation of our mundane senses, so that we are able to perceive unseen realms. Uranus, by sign alone, not planet, is influencing Libra, Capricorn and Cancer, making our relationship to emotional comforts, the balance between our needs and others and our feelings of security in what mountains we are choosing to climb (you need to know what you value before you go after what you want) far more unstable than usual. These things must change by virtue of a domino effect. Once our needs and values change, really, everything does.

Common Ideas of Taurus

Taureans can have a negative reputation (bad PR!!!) of being too materialistic and gluttonous, unconcerned with higher philosophical thought or wisdom (A Taurus 8th house is in Sagittarius, after all) and wholly concerned with indulging in food, enjoying fine clothes, counting their shekels, hoarding STUFF and having sex. Well, there is a lot more to Taurus than just the salt of the earth grounded materialist survivalist themes that we are so used to hearing.

It is the heart of our collective bonds with friends and groups. It is the struggle we go through in order to maintain our ideals and higher philosophical notions of life. It’s also an excellent provider and provisioner. Taurus people are often those who adopt kids and provide security to those around them. Uranus will make such actions more prominent.

But Taurus in Uranus…Rocks Our Foundation — On Top of Saturn/Pluto Conjunct

Uranus is a collective planet that operates similarly to Mercury, save on a higher level of creative impulsive thought. Everything it touches or aspects, it can electrify and elevate in vibration. Taurus is amongst the lowest vibrational frequency, dealing with the Earth. Uranus rules over masses, elections and groups of forward-thinking individuals: revolutionaries and rebels.

Uranus can shake up whatever area of life it touches and make things rather unpredictable and unorthodox. It really REALLY does not like being in Taurus. Taurus doesn’t like change or instability at all. But that is precisely what Uranus brings. We are undergoing massive collective instability when it comes to making sure our needs (food, clothing, shelter, love etc.) are met and our values are in the right place.

We are looking at a revolutionary new way of meeting our needs. AI and technology will come into play for those who want to meet the needs of sex, food, clothes, shelter and more in the cyber world. We may have to rally together in tribes or groups in order to survive what is coming now. A drastic change in our society is imminent. There will be a natural disaster that takes on cataclysmic proportions in the far off future (10 years or so). But, before that happens, we can prepare. Whenever we have groups, we can better take on the world and demand that our wants be met. This has been the case throughout human history. Loners simply die out and the collective, the tribe, survives. Change can come in a number of ways too. Revolutionary new ideas in the realm of finance and banking, of course, are also available for those who can tap into this psychic sphere. Uranus can give us a sudden inspired thought about what is to come. It can induce mystical visions in some people, if aspected correctly and placed in certain parts of the chart. This is a time to listen to what our older generation 80 years old or so have to say about our economy and material needs. They were born with Uranus in Taurus in their natal chart and will be having a return conjunction soon.

Lunar Taurus

Uranus is the great awakener and it is making Taurus really come awake. For the Taurus Moons of the world, whose emotions are usually quite steady and stable, it may mark a time for them to shake loose habitual emotional responses and reach for something greater in life. Rather than ordering the same sandwich every time they go into a restaurant because it’s what they know and what gives them comfort. This transit can wake them up emotionally and tell them it’s time for more emotional freedom, causing turmoil in relationships — especially those! It might be a time for adopting something (children or a creative project) and nourishing that thing into something great and fruitful, something that will give back to society as a whole (well-adjusted young adults, or a humanitarian project).

Solar Taurus

For Sun in Taurus persons, this is a time when they really get a wake up call for who they are (authentic self) in relation to what they have, what they need and what they own. This could be a massive turn-around in identity for Taurus people. You’ve planned your life one way and now, you drop it all and become a starving artist on the beaches of Venice. Frankly, that decision would be unthinkable for a Taurus, but you get the point. If they need to quit a steady stable secure (Taurus loves those words) job in order to break free and explore something that their soul requires of them, they will have to.

Venus Taurus

For those with Venus in Taurus, in its home sign, it’s a time when their values (everyone’s really…) get electro-shock therapy. The things that they’re passionate about might change radically and the things that they love to normally do might have to be done in a manner that incorporates the collective. Intimate relationships may turn into largely platonic experiences.

Mercury Taurus

For anyone with a Mercury in Taurus, it can be a great time for new ideas and radical insight into how to manage your life accordingly. Or…it can make your day-to-day functions of life go haywire and get a little chaotic unless you can go with the flow.

Jupiter Taurus

Jupiter in Taurus people don’t have an easy time finding optimism and hope in life and can often get caught up in trying to make security, pleasure, comfort and stability the source of “meaning” in life – which it isn’t. Not to mention, that this can give too much inclination for material indulgence. But Uranus here can make one’s beliefs take on a new filter.

We can expect the current state of our needs to change suddenly. The last time we had this transit FDR rolled out a social welfare plan for the people. Hitler came into power and lifted Germany up from a state of dissolution, powerlessness, poverty and shame, into another extreme….a lot of pride, power, wealth and a well-organized top-down power-structure. We all have real NEED at the moment.

  • Healthcare
  • Home Ownership
  • Living Wages
  • Debt Levels
  • Workers’ Rights
  • Rising Costs

Not only do we have to realize that we are able to make some positive personal changes and solve our own issues (to a degree…) but in order for the collective to manifest change, there must be a change manifested in the individual …. that means you. Regardless, we will soon see political action towards ensuring that the masses get their needs met. Social programs and policies will have to be implemented in order to secure the populace.

Uranus in Taurus will give us insight into how to make radical updates to our needs, nutrition and security.
