The 4 Yugas and the Chakras

Trevor Scott

Life has a way of shaping us, molding us into something different. Often for the better, but sometimes for the worse, life circumstances can push and pull us in all sorts of directions.

Our lives move through cycles, and our subtle energy centers become activated per the larger cosmic cycles.

There are cycles within cycles in our world.

However, the most significant, all-encompassing cycle is that of the four cosmic Yugas outlined in Hinduism.

The Kali Yuga: Muladhara

Our current timeline. It has the shortest duration: 432,000 years.

The darkest age is where wisdom is barely apparent in humanity. Survival, anger, tribalism, security, materialism, and earthly pleasures are paramount in human consciousness.

Saturn rules the lowest chakra, Muladhara. This period can feel cold, dense, stuck, and repetitive. It represents the most primal instincts of humanity.

The Dwapara Yuga: Swadhisthana & Anahata

Double the length of the Kali Yuga, the Dwapara Yuga lasts 864,000 years. This is the electric age, where creativity, compassion, love, passion, pleasure, relationships, and comradery become more paramount.

Swadhisthana, the second chakra, is governed by benefic planets like Jupiter and Venus; this is a time of expanding knowledge and creatively inventing new things. It is considered the electric age. Creation. Expansion of conscious thought.

The Treta Yuga: Manipura & Vishuddha

Beyond survival. Beyond personal pleasure. Purpose and vision. This is the age of motion, energy, and awareness of a higher purpose than material indulgence. This yuga lasts 3X longer than the darkest age.

The Treta Yuga is when the field of astrology is mastered. The mechanism behind WHY astrology works will be discovered.

Ruled by the planet of intelligence and the planet of energy, Mercury and Mars offer greater potential for interstellar exploration and a purified mental state within human beings. This is the age of mental power and energy.

The Satya Yuga: Ajna and Sahasrara

This is the highest age of enlightenment and peace. The subtle energies no longer pour into the lower chakras and get trapped there. They rise upwards to the highest energy centers. Thankfully, this age lasts the longest.

Divine knowledge pervades throughout all of humanity. The lower desires of the ego have mainly been cleansed and overcome.

The goal of human existence is no longer food and sex but to attain union with the divine or aspects of the divine reflected in the material world.

The Sun and Moon govern the third eye chakra. They govern the most harmonious age of human flourishing.

The Sun and Moon are the king and the queen. They hold the highest authority and are the nearest to God. These two celestial bodies govern the core ego-self and the psychological self.

It’s no wonder they are a part of the highest, most exalted age of peace and prosperity, the Golden Age.

Once this period passes, humanity will descend, again, into the dark age of Kali Yuga and repeat the endless cycle. I suggest that there could be a divine intervention that supersedes the cosmic cycles and elevates us from the lowest Yuga to the highest.

We reincarnate into a particular age because we share a similar consciousness that is a vibrational match to that age.

If we were to meditate and diligently transform the flow of our subtle energies, we could elevate our consciousness out of one age and into another.
