Mars in Gemini Transit 2021 for Each Zodiac Sign

Trevor Scott

Mars moved into Gemini on March 3rd. Gemini is all about making immediate connections and being curious about the latest news or information. This is a time of aggressive communication, high-strung nervousness and mental frustrations. But, it’s a transit that can also improve our lives significantly by cutting out distractions and the chaotic information-drowned world. We might also decide to communicate clearly and directly with others about what our needs are and draw solid boundaries that respect our personal autonomy.

Mars, the God of War, agitates the qualities of any sign he transits through. Each sign will be affected differently and be given opportunities to improve on how they “connect” with some area of life. Gemini is ruled by the youthful messenger planet: Mercury, which makes this a sociable, bubbly and inquisitive sign that is addicted to Twitter loves to share ideas and connect with others. But Mars doesn’t like the spritely Mercury, since his prerogative is completely different that Mercury’s; he is all about going to war and getting $*&^ done.

After all, Mars is motivated. His gaze is direct. Mercury just wants to have fun and experience life. Mars, unlike Mercury, is the natural significator of energy, willpower and the ability to do the hard things in life to move ahead. When Mars is good, we take action, draw solid boundaries for ourselves and put our energy towards solving problems and warding off evil (distractions, addictions etc.) For the last few months, of course, Mars has been moving through Taurus, a sign ruled by Venus, his polar opposite. It has been difficult to take action and initiative on what we need to get done lately. We’ve been more motivated by issues of financial security. But, when it enters into Gemini, it feels more dynamic and active, able to mentally focus on what ideas should be acted on and which should be ignored.

On March 16th, Mercury, the landlord of Gemini, enters into Pisces and confuses the energies of Mars. The soldier isn’t sure where to march. It’s a time when we might not know how to assert our communication style in a clear and effective way. Choosing the wrong battles is going to be a theme for the next few months of this year (especially when Mars moves into Cancer!) For now, we need to work on how we share information with others, especially when Rahu (who is used to blowing everything out of proportion) is close to Mars (signifying computer software and technology…zoom sessions…).

Key Takeaway: Cut Down Your Screen Time and Stop Wasting Mental Energy on Trivial Internet Searches or Social Media Usage (…scrolling through the comment section for validation or a dopamine hit…)!

Mars’ Journey Through the Natural Zodiac

When Mars is in Gemini, he is in the natural 3rd (activity) and 8th (upheaval) sign from where he is comfortable: Aries and Scorpio. Mars is still working on himself in this masculine air sign and hasn’t developed the maturity to become a fighter for other people, as he would be in Capricorn and Aquarius. After Mars leaves his home in Aries, the domain of initiation, beginnings, self-hood and the Spring season, Mars immediately feels uncomfortable throughout his duration in the signs of Taurus, Gemini and, of course, the emotionally active waters of Cancer. But he gains strength entering Leo, waivers in Virgo, becomes weak in Libra and finally enters into a comfortable place of intense passion: Scorpio. He feels delighted in Sagittarius and becomes exceptionally powerful in Capricorn and so on.

Mars Transit for Each Zodiac Ascendant or Moon Sign

Aries – 3rd House

You are going to work on your skills and improve the quality of your immediate environment. Depending on the exact aspects to your natal chart planets, it might mean a car accidence or short-distance travel accidents in cities or metropolitan areas (especially once Mercury moves into Pisces) and the fact that it sits with the unpredictable Rahu/North Node.

Taurus – 2nd House

You are going to start working on your diet, how you communicate to others and what improvements you want to make to your self-worth. You’re driven and motivated to get more security in your life. You might experiment with a new line of income (side-hustle). Be careful of not impulsively spending money. Once Mercury enters Pisces (alongside Neptune), Mars will be motivated on dreams and illusions. The Square will active your 2nd and 11th houses, your financial security and gains/social circle.

Gemini – 1st House

Mars here makes you feel braver, more competitive and more determined to ‘go after’ what it is you want. Geminis are often entrepreneurs, writers and communicators. Mars energizes these aspects of life. You might find yourself getting more physically active. You’ll need to develop a daily exercise habit and incorporate it into your schedule to ensure that Mars is being ‘worked out’ in a healthy way. Otherwise, the increase in aggression and energy might come out suddenly and inappropriately.

Cancer – 12th House

Mars transits through an unconscious place in your chart. Pay attention to your dreams and start grounding yourself to ensure you sleep well. If you are ungrounded and too lost in thought, you might have some nightmares or trouble sleeping. Think about tightening up your expenses and see what ways you have to save money. It might mean a loss of energy through the misuse of Mercury (mind and speech).

Leo – 11th House

Your social circle might be fighting more. You might push one another to be better too. This is a time to actively improve on how you are managing your ambitions for the future and whether or not you have thought out every possible alternative path (Gemini is about experimenting and communicating).

Virgo – 10th House

You might feel a bit more competitive at the workplace. Don’t get involved in mindless gossip or pick trivial battles on social/political issues (the disposition of Mars is in Aquarius at the moment and will debilitate in Pisces). You could make up your mind to put in immense work and improve on your career standing. No more shyness. Be bold and communicate with confidence that you want a raise.

Libra – 9th House

You might feel very motivated to continue a path towards higher education or take a long-distance travel trip (Covid-19 lockdowns aside). You’ll want to expand your horizons in some way, typically by obtaining new information and ‘fun,’ foreign experiences. You have a lot of planets transiting your 6th house of work, daily routine and health at the moment. You might want to break out of “going with the flow” and follow that new idea or inspiration.

Scorpio – in the 8th House

Your intimate relationships could feel a bit terse and ‘triggered’ or full of nerves at the moment. Naturally, it’s not a good time for joint account ventures while Mars moves through here. As he can motivate you to improve on your joint finances and trust issues with relationships, get you involved in research or separate you from intimate relationships altogether. Mars rules your entire chart and his transit is quite important to your development throughout life. Depending on exact aspects, you might gain from male competitors at your day job or from a healthy daily routine.

Sagittarius – in the 7th House

Don’t pick the wrong fights with others. Also, don’t let the nervous energy and agitated communication styles of other people interfere with your larger life path. You might have some passionate and feisty encounters with others at this time.

Capricorn – in the 6th House

You might decide to cut the fat out of your daily routine and be a bit more spartan in how you use your mind (lay off social media and stop looking at your phone during work, for example). This is a time of great improvement and energy at your daily workplace. Be careful to not get into verbal spats with office co-workers.

Aquarius – in the 5th House

This is a time to initiate and finish the creative projects, musical or otherwise, that you’ve been working on. You might try expressing your skills more through a creative avenue.

Pisces – in the 4th House

You might renovate the home and start working hard at building your foundation. With Mercury/Jupiter in your 12th house of unconscious and Neptune, Venus and Sun on your ascendant (soon Mercury too), means that your entire life path might need to adjust drastically and some part of that may involve moving house or readjusting your emotional state. There is a balance to be struck between acting on what you feel is right and just allowing or flowing with the larger universal forces of life.
