George Floyd’s Astrology: Powerlessness and the Masses

Trevor Scott

Nobody knows George Floyd’s birth time…well, surely someone does…just no astrologer.

Just based on his basic planetary placements, his life was pretty hard. He was in and out of prison. Had little support and was going through a ROUGH Plutonian transit.

George Floyd’s Planetary Placements:

Sun in Libra:

His self esteem was very damaged due to (most likely) an absent father figure (or one of poor character). He certainly had problems with his father. His father held some pretty extreme idealistic and utopian beliefs and gave him some harsh teachings (Sagittarius). He really sold his life’s vision down the river to make others happy, sadly. His soul wanted to develop a balanced and universal approach towards meeting his own needs and the needs of other people. Uranus represents the masses and elections. It is exactly conjoined his Sun. This was undergoing a tight square to the societal breakdown transits that were and are occurring (Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius/Capricorn). His experience of personal powerlessness (the Sun is power) was reflected out into the collective consciousness.

Sun is an indicator of the soul.

There are a few planets blocking its potential:

  • Saturn in the 10th with south node: Too much negativity and restriction
  • Venus: too much indulgence or women who are unhelpful to his life’s path

There are helpful planets promoting his soul’s potential:

  • Jupiter: knowledge, understanding, finances
  • Mercury: understanding the underworld of society, making friends with powerful people

Saturn and South Node in Cancer:

In astrological folklore, this would give a chart with a curse on it. In reality — not at all. It just means that he would (emotionally) get fixed on certain problems in life. He had a hard time seeing the bigger picture and following his inspiration. This person had to learn how to be more flexible in life. This is a placement that dries up one’s childhood fun, sadly. This can make one very disciplined about who they share their emotions with.

Moon in Taurus:

The mother was likely a far more supportive (relatively speaking) figure in life than his father. This is, of course, a waning moon. He was born after the full moon (spike in energy), when the moon was winding down and moving towards the new moon cycle. Because his chart’s lunar energy was stronger than the solar energy, there was a propensity towards withdrawing into sensual enjoyments, rather than doing the difficult work of working towards a greater vision (Sun).

Mars Retrograde in Taurus:

There is some difficulty with anger combined with the themes of excessive (Pluto) consumption, pleasure and indulgence here. Especially because it is in the early degrees, having come out of Aries, fresh into Taurus (experience of the sensual and physical). This is a placement that can make a person take all the wrong action in life. Jupiter represents higher wisdom and knowledge and it is in a tight square to Mars. Both of these placements show difficulty with anger and action. The person didn’t have the guidance and wisdom to discern how to move forward in life because of a poor upbringing (no teaching or education: Jupiter).

His karma shows that indulgence was going to lead to his death in some way. Had he not been murdered by a Minneapolis police officer, this likely would have played out.

Mercury in Scorpio:

He had a mind that was really into penetrating the truth of the matter, regardless of the subject. Aspecting the south node, his mind and thinking patterns were caught up in problems and negativity (Saturn/Ketu). It made him feel as if there was no other way of living or being in life, outside of what we had learned growing up.

Venus in Sagittarius:

Venus sits in the 3rd sign from the Sun, giving more instability to one’s ability to make decisions that lead to a higher fulfillment. Venus in this placement would have given a father who could not teach him how to follow a good path. This leads someone karmically astray in life. The lord of Venus is Jupiter, which is sitting in Aquarius. Venus is also in the 6th from Saturn, showing difficulty with making decisions that lead to higher fulfillment, once more.

Rahu in Capricorn:

This makes a person want to achieve a high status in life. It makes a person crave structure. They can become pretty ambitious. But rather than following a destiny, his life was about getting over a past life karmic burden (Saturn rules the lower class or slaves of the world). This is where we must pay our dues, work without pay or reward (furthest from the Sun). But whether or not one does it with honor or righteousness will depend on the character of the Sun. In his case, his Sun (his father) is in a weakened state, unable to see the lighter side of life.

The transits that were happening during George’s murder were not easy, as one can easily imagine.

Pluto and Jupiter were square to his Sun:

This can make someone turn to suicide or attract “intense” experiences that push someone out of ego into spirit. Pluto transits can crush a person. We’re not supposed to literally die, but make positive changes to mitigate the ego and let the spiritual aspect of the self be expressed. The Pluto aspect can transform us and make us into something far greater.

Mars in Pisces Square to Venus/Neptune:

This was a time of delusion and confusion for his decision-making ability.

South Node was Transiting on Saturn and his natal South Node:

The result of a south node transit to the natal Saturn can release one of their structure or foundation in life. It can be quite destructive and bring up problems that were totally unseen before. He had Just had a Rahu return. This makes a person rethink their life and the goals associated with the north node/Rahu. Now, keep in mind, the Sun is damaged in his natal chart. Yet the north node (desire) is in a constellation that is ruled by the Sun. This is another indicator of misdirection in life, or being brought into contact with those who may wish harm on him. Uranus is transiting his Mars. It can be a real kick in the nuts. I’ve had some rough Uranian transits myself, dang it!

Saturn Transiting Conjunct Jupiter:

This can be a rough time for one’s optimism and faith in life. It’s a time to restructure how one approaches finances and creativity.
