THE Elements
Elements in Astrology Explained
In astrology, the elements are split into four basic parts which contain information to help identify why signs behave the way they do. They also pertain to the houses. The natural first house, for instance, is natural fire sign, Aries. Any planet found here will take on a more fiery expression.
FIRE
Fire rises high into the air and can transform dead, raw material into something useful. Planets with a fire emphasis are: Mars, Sun, and Jupiter. Fire never lacks self-confidence and wants to shine light (awareness or knowledge) onto something. Fire houses, the ascendant, 5th and 9th, pertain to one’s sense of purpose, inspiration, and passion for life.
WATER
The Moon governs all that relates to water. Water is a mysterious element that represents emotions and change. The natural water houses are places of change, psychological depth, and intuition. Those with prominent water signs in a birth chart are natural psychics, healers, and empaths. They may lack direction. Being a feminine element, it likes going with the flow of a larger current.
AIR
Mercury governs the air element. Air loves to move fast and connect to ideas and meet new people. Those with air signs must learn to live gracefully in the moment and balance the realm of ideas and concepts with “real-world” action, less they bounce from one new project to another without ever completing anything.
EARTH
Saturn governs the earth element. Earth likes to stay put and focuses on the tangible material side of life, things like food, money, shelter, and social status. This element provides the necessities of life and pertains to the houses of material security, job/career, and health. Earth signs love structure, order, and routine.
